CRAIG HOY invited residents and regular visitors to take part in his “Help Craig to Help Gullane and Aberlady” survey.
Over 100 residents, business owners and visitors from nearby villages participated in the survey.
It is clear that our coastal villages are a great place to live, work and visit. But recent growth alongside increasing visitor numbers are creating significant problems, from speeding to the damage being done at our beaches.
Craig says: “Gullane and Aberlady have grown in recent years and this has put stress on roads, infrastructure and services. We need to respect the views of residents through the planning system to prevent these problems getting worse.”
“Infrastructure, the environment and quality of life for those who live here – and those who are moving here – is at risk unless we place greater controls on future development.”
Residents have concerns about the impact on local shopping centres, on schools, healthcare and the effects on surrounding green belt and agricultural land.
If elected as your MSP, Craig will work with the Council, transport and environmental agencies, and the Scottish Government to ensure we pivot towards a viable and sustainable future.
This means imposing strict limits on future development and delivering green infrastructure solutions for our communities.
