Dear Residents,
The forthcoming General Election will be crucial for the people of East Lothian and for the future of our country. Polling day will be an opportunity to end five years of division and keep Scotland in the UK.
With Jeremy Corbyn’s out-of-date, hard left policies, it’s clear that the Labour candidate can no longer win in this constituency. This election is going to be a straight contest between the Scottish Conservatives and the SNP here in East Lothian.
As the Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate, I will spend the coming weeks making a positive case for East Lothian as part of a strong Scotland in a strong United Kingdom.
I started my career in journalism before taking on senior management roles in publishing and political intelligence in the UK and Asia. I am a local resident and live in Haddington with my civil partner. As an East Lothian Councillor, I work tirelessly on behalf of local residents.
In the campaign I will explain how divisive and damaging a second independence referendum would be to jobs, prosperity and public services in East Lothian.
I will highlight the SNP’s failures on health, education, crime and transport – and I will work hard to promote business and fight for a fair deal for young people.
I will also speak up for older people and the most vulnerable people in this constituency.
On Brexit, I believe people are sick and tired of dither, division and delay. To end this uncertainty, I want the next Parliament to pass the deal agreed by the UK and Europe, allowing us to move our focus back to the everyday issues that matter to local people.
I look forward to the campaign and to engaging with voters right across East Lothian.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I’m keen to engage and happy to help.
Best regards,
Craig Hoy
Scottish Conservative and Unionist Candidate
East Lothian
